DISCOLOURATION OF YOUR DIAPHRAGM OR CERVICAL CAP

* It is recommended NOT to use a diaphragm or cervical cap when you are menstruating.
* If you experience bloody discharge after menstruation, IUD removal or childbirth, and you use the diaphragm, it may discolour, but will not be harmed.
* Some people find that the staining can be removed with a gentle cleaning with toothpaste, and thorough rinsing in water afterwards.

INSERTING AND REMOVING THE CAYA DIAPHRAGM

Please practice inserting and removing the moistened diaphragm before you need it! You may feel better using a condom the first time you use the diaphragm. When it is in the right place, it cannot be dislodged accidentally.

HOW LONG TO KEEP THE DIAPHRAGM IN

* To be effective in preventing pregnancy, the diaphragm or cervical cap needs to remain in place at least 6 hours after the last male ejaculation.

* You can leave the diaphragm or cervical cap in for 48 hours, and remove and rinse it with plain water.

* You can reinsert the diaphragm or cervical cap immediately if you like.

YOU NEED TO USE CONTRACEPTIVE GEL

* The diaphragm or cervical cap on its own do not reliably prevent pregnancy. You need to use @4mL of gel per expected male ejaculation.

* A 60mL tube of contraceptive gel should be used up within 3 months for hygiene reasons.

* A 60mL tube of contraceptive gel will be good for 15 applications.

* The expiry date on contraceptive gels in stock is generally at least a year from now, and buying 4 gels is the minimum you will need for a year.

REPLACE THE DIAPHRAGM EVERY TWO YEARS

It's important to replace your diaphragm every 2 years because the nylon ring that holds the shape wears out.
