Soaking the Clay Taste out of a New Stefani Water Purifier

Hi Tracey,

After numerous filtering the Stefani water purification, there is still a residual taste of the clay (terra cotta) in the filtered water. I have followed all your instructions including filtering countless litres of water to no avail. Will the water always have a clay taste to it? What else can I do to take care of this so that the water doesn’t have this terra cotta taste?
Thanks for your help in this matter.

Cheers for now
G*******

Hi G*******,

The clay taste will go away with use.
You can do more soaking if you don't like the taste.
Fill both compartments and leave to soak for at least 2 hours.
Stefani recommends 6 changes of water after 2 hours of soaking - you may find you want more.

The first time I primed a Stefani according to instructions, it still tasted like clay for about a week.
The next time I primed a Stefani, I soaked and filled for 2 days until the taste went away.
I watered the garden with the water.

I promise you it will taste great soon!

Thanks for giving me hope that the clay taste will go away. I was quite worried as it is not my taste preference.
So I will submerge the clay compartments in water as you instructed.
Watering the garden sounds good!!
Thanks for your quick reply and enjoy this magnificent day!!

Hi G*******,

You are very welcome.

You do not need to submerge the water purifier.
Simply assemble it fully and fill BOTH compartments with water.
Let soak 2 or more hours and the repeat at last 6 times.
Make sense?
