Space for Women Artists at Bathurst and Dundas!
URGENT!!!!!
I apologize, this may be one of the most unprofessional emails you ever receive from WANT.
Here are the details:
1. We have secured gallery space at Market 707 at Scadding Court in the very central corner of Bathurst and Dundas in Downtown Toronto. It is created from re-purposed cargo bins. For more info visit their site here: http://www.scaddingcourt.org/market_707
Ours is the single largest bin, on the side.
1. We were going to put out a call for artists and artisans to start showing at the gallery in mid May, THAT has changed.
2. Justin Trudeau and a merry band of media are tentatively scheduled to visit the space Wednesday. Yes this Wednesday April 23rd. And it has been requested that we be open and present on site.
3. We are seeking 10 women artists/artisans to create an art market type atmosphere, so as many artists as possible can be involved in the opening and have the potential for media exposure. It is such short notice. TRUST me, I am very aware of the time restrictions. A solo show didn't seem very fair. Set up will happen Tuesday after 12 noon and we have 24/7 access.
4. We will be posting our call for artists on FB at 9am tomorrow with a link to a survey monkey application. It will be $100.00 to be featured in the show for 30 days. There will be no further commission.
5. We can't do any sliding scale or free spots, the sudden change in dates means our funding looks very different and the fees are needed for the space.
The post will appear on That's W omen’s Work's Face book page- https://www.facebook.com/groups/242553748336/ at 9am. If you don't have Face book I can also post it here to the group.
And remember this is a CARGO BIN, it is a small space and each artist will have dimensions in which they can display your works. It is BYOB tables, shelves etc. Those details will be released at 9am tomorrow as well.
We are seeking high quality, hand made work. I'm not concerned because you and your work are awesome! Also a sense of humor will be essential on this one!
I apologize knowing many of you, on this long weekend, may not see this posting. Or don't have access to funds. We will have the space and a strong future ahead of us with many more opportunities for all!
