Gardening can be a therapeutic practice that connects us more deeply to ourselves and nature - the full spectrum of plant, animal and human communities. In this workshop, Kat will guide participants through a tea meditation to ground and open followed by seed planting ritual. Participants will take home seeds that they planted to attend to at home.
ABOUT LADY GAIA:
LADY GAIA, founded by Kat Gibson, offers a variety of courses and workshops in Earth magic, food and medicine designed to inspire people to collaborate, co-create and work towards a shared vision of deepening our relationship to the body of the Earth and the Earth of the body for healing, growth and transformation. Lady Gaia is an aspect of the divine feminine, inspired by the Greek Goddess of the Earth, who guides us to discover the pleasures of connecting intimately with nature. She calls us to remember our innate wisdom as it lives in relationship to the spiral of life, death, and rebirth in all living things on earth. She teaches us to tap into the root system, draw from the sun and moonlight, and to drink in the waters of the wellspring for our bodies nourishment, vitality and healing.
ABOUT KAT GIBSON:
A graduate of the University of Toronto with a Master's in Education, Kat is an urban farmer, educator and earth lover. She is a certified yoga instructor and reiki practitioner, completed a two-year Priestess Path Apprenticeship, and is currently in her second year training as a Systemic Family Constellations Facilitator. Kat got her start growing food on her balcony and also while volunteering in a community garden. She then spent two growing seasons coordinating and farming with The Cutting Veg Organic Farm, followed by a season at Everdale Farm. Throughout 2014, she developed a local-food purchasing policy for Toronto's SickKids hospital while running Lady Gaia's urban farm plot at Fresh City Farms, followed by a two-year contract as a project coordinator at South Riverdale Community Health Centre. Kat is also currently working as a Community Gardens Program Coordinator for Ecosource, an environmental education non-profit serving youth, adults and families.
Inspired by the rhythms of the earth and cycles of nature, she has combined and evolved these practices to integrate wisdom, ritual, and ceremony that honour the elements as a guide to explore the many layers of interconnection between nature, self and community. Working passionately with the Earth has invited a deeper and more intimate relationship with herself, bringing forward a sense of aliveness and trust in her wholeness as a living being on the earth. She honours food as medicine and sees food and nature connection as catalysts for learning, growth, vitality, and joy.
