Aroma Diffuser RRRepaired!

One of these I did this past weekend was "Repair" my diffuser. I thought it was ready for the garbage since I had already taken it apart and cleaned it a couple of times because it was making some annoying "robot like" noises but still continued to do so after I put it back together.

But I decided to find a replacement fan for it which was difficult to get since I went to several computer stores and none had it. It happens to be the same size as what was previously used for cooling Computer CPU's and Computer Video Cards. Nowadays larger fans are being used to prevent the computers from overheating.

Anyway, I eventually found one and now my diffuser is "Reborn" and actually pumps out the aroma more now than what it did before!

Maybe now you might want to add "REBORN" to your RRR's after reading this!

Could I add your story on my blog? You've inspired me to blog about repairing things.

Nowadays, people are often told that it costs more to repair something than it does to buy a new one. It never does from an environmental cost perspective, and it most often IS worthwhile repairing something rather than replacing it with a new item. The trick is finding the part and the repair person.

Things I get repaired:

Mr. Soles Saves My Bodaceous Boots

I bought a pair of leather lace up boots from a thrift store for $4. When one zipper broke, Mr Soles, the shoe repair guy at Crawford and College, marveled at my Italian boots that he mused I paid hundreds of dollars for. I have had each zipper repaired for $30 each time. They are awesome boots and I look forward to my second decade with them.

Cell Phone = RRRepaired!

I have a fancy candy bar cell phone that was given to me because it was a freebie promo item to a fashion magazine editor. Cell phones are given, activated with bells and whistles, as promo items! And you can only use so many cell phones!

So after a year and a half, a long distance phone card got shoved into the space between the sliding parts and severed it. So I took it to my local cell phone guy on Dovercourt a few steps north of Bloor on the East side and a day later I had a new cell phone for $40.

Yes, you can get cell phones cheaper with plans, but I am locked into a plan, and the phone still costs $150 used. And I feel I saved the environment and some kids in the Congo some damage.
