Workshopper Cards

The price of Workshopper Cards will be going up on January 9th to $300 for ten 2-hour workshops - or 20 hours of workshops in total. This is still the best deal I offer and it means that you pay on $30 for a workshop that is regularly priced at $70!

New Bulk Dispensing Rules:

Starting the second week of January, I will dispense bulk liquids:

1. Into a new bottle of the same size/amount ie: 120ml in a 120ml bottle and the price will reflect the cost of the new bottle.

2. Into a bottle of the same size/amount as you ordered ie: if you bring a 500ml bottle, you will need to buy 500ml.

The reason for this change is that it's taking up more time and resources to buy, wash and sterilze measuring cups than I am earning on the wholesale price of the ingredient. If I'm filling a 120ml bottle, I simply fill it directly to the neck. If I'm filling a 500ml bottle with 100ml, I need to pre measure in a sterilized measuring cup and put a little extra in, pour it into the bottle, then wash and sterilize the measuring cup again. And there are additional problems:

1. People often order the ingredient in bulk and don't, or can't. bring in their own container. People who don't live in Toronto feel they should be able to get the bulk price. And it's an extra step to order a suitable bottle separately.

2. People sometimes don't want the ingredient in the repurposed bottle or jar I've filled for them. They're used to pretty plastic squeeze bottles, and here I've gone and put it in a juice bottle! So I end up with ingredients I can't sell in that case.

3. I don't consume much packaging myself, so I often have to scrounge, scrub and sterilize bottles from other people's recycle bins! It's a drag to do that, and to keep the bottles in stock.

Preference for cash, cheques and money orders over PayPal

Starting now, I have an explicit preference for accepting cash, cheques and money orders over PayPal. Why am I grumpy about PayPal? Aside from the extra cost, and the lack of alternatives for small Canadian businesses, PayPal has been doing some very unethical things and I don't want to support them more than I have to.

I do understand if you prefer to use PayPal and it is the easiest way for both of us if you are not using Canadian currency. I am encouraging Toronto pick up customers to pay by cheque or cash, and Canadian customers to mail cheques. Thanks!
