Bag It - Is your life too plastic?
Suzan Beraza
USA, 2010, 78 min.
Documentary
Canadian Premiere

The idealism surrounding the budding culture of plastics and the convenience of ‘disposable living’ in the 1960s was dependent upon one key item - the garbage can. With an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ mentality we are able to convince ourselves that single-use disposables - beverage containers, food packaging, razors, diapers - actually go away. In this compelling and entertaining documentary, Jeb Berrier, a charismatic everyman father-to-be, sets out on an adventuresome journey to discover the sobering environmental, physical, psychological and economic implications of the number one consumer item in the world - the plastic bag.

Call it ‘method axing’, filmmaker Chin Tangsakulsathaporn urges us to cut out our rampant use of plastic bags by recreating the plastic-infested habitat in which many animals live.
