In this hands on workshop series by request, the ancient art of perfumery meets the contemporary science of aromatherapy. We will cover the Joy of Scent and incense making curriculum.

FEBRUARY 1: Aromatherapy 101 (Individual Prescription)
We'll examine a 2000 year old still invented by an Egyptian mathematician named Maria. We'll sample dozens of essential oils and discover why and how they work. Best of all, you'll create an Individual Prescription for yourself in accordance with the system of Marguerite Maury, the late Austrian bio chemist and Mother of Wholistic Aromatherapy.
FEBRUARY 8: Perfumery (Custom Perfume)
What is perfumery? What are perfume oils and and flower waters and how are they made? What do perfumes do for us mentally, emotionally and physically, and how do we know this traditionally and scientifically? Make your own custom perfume.
FEBRUARY 15: Practical Aromatherapy for The Spirit (Emo Oils)
We'll cover intuiting. choosing, using and exploring a selection of traditional and contemporary intriguing essential oils for moving and healing the mind, emotions and Spirit. Make your own Emo Oil blend.
FEBRUARY 22: Incenses (resin, sticks and sprays)
From traditional incenses prescribed by G*d to the ancients, through to contemporary local indigenous practices and dollar store love magic, we'll explore types of incenses and create our own custom sticks using 100% essential oil blends.
Come back on Monday, February 25, 6:30 to 8:30 to savour, package and label your now dried incenses.
In a small group, we'll learn:
1. Aromatherapy 101: how our sense of smell works, essential oils, actions, origins, blending, perfumery
2. Practical Aromatherapy: mixing and blending, understanding carrier oils and their properties, diffusing, perfuming, and making mojo oils
3. Oils for the Spirit: using and exploring a selection of intriguing essential oils for moving and healing the Spirit
We'll sample dozens of essential oils, and you'll learn how to simply identify the key properties of each for body, mind and spirit based on the parts of the plant used.
At this comprehensive series of workshops you'll also learn about:
~ the history of perfumery and the contemporary science of scent and essential oils
~ the 11 chemical groups in essential oils and what these do
plant morphology aka The Doctrine of Plant Signatures
~ the principles of perfumery and the secrets of "notes"
You'll create and go home with a customized:
