Black soapstone is classified as a soft, black, metamorphic rock. Soapstone is also called steatite or soaprock at times. Metamorphic rocks, such as this one, are formed from one type of rock through a physical change over time.

These soapstone incense bowls are handmade by an organization that supports more than ten thousand families in India. The organization has adopted several children who are very poor and/or lost one or both parents and are financially struggling for an education. The children are provided with all necessities including school uniforms, stationery, school fees, transportation, extra tutoring, medical, vision and other necessities to prosper in their individual visions.
