Melt and Pour Natural SLS Free Soap Base is free from foam boosters such as SLS and SLES. It won't turn yellow during processing, is odour-free and offers a superior fragrance lift. However, this soap is cloudy and can have a mottled appearance. Best for colouring with clays and micas.

ABOUT "MOTTLING":
Occasionally, Melt and Pour Soap Base Natural SLS Free may have an uneven coloUring, which is known as mottling. Mottling, which is formed during the cooling phase of the soap production, is purely aesthetic and does not affect the quality or performance of the soap. Once the soap base has been re-melted, mottling will no longer be visible. Be sure to cut the base from top to bottom, portion by portion, horizontally when re-melting.

Preparing and Wrapping Your Soaps:
When making soaps it is good to remember that the Melt & Pour Bases contain water as part of the formula. So if they are left exposed to the atmosphere, the water will evaporate and the bar of soap will shrink. We would recommend fully wrapping the ENTIRE soap bar as soon as it is poured and cooled--this should minimize/eliminate any shrinkage. I suggest using:
~ Repurposed plastic bags
~ Parchment or "Waxed" paper
~ Glassine bags or paper*
~ Biodegradable plastic bags*
