Aroma: Tabacco has a warm, rich, very sweet tobacco-like odour and is an absolute favourite in cottage gardens for this very reason, the scent of the plants being more prominent at twilight. The distinct smell is impossible to imitate or synthesize.

Description: Nicotiana is a beautiful plant, growing to between one and two metres in height depending on the variety and growing conditions. It has huge green leaves and very sweet-scented flowers which range in colour from white to purple, through pink and red.

HISTORY: Tobacco has been used and cultivated in America for a very long time, 10,000 years by some accounts. High nicotine content varieties of Nicotiana tabacum and Nicotiana rustica were prized by many tribes. Both species are thought to be cultivars. N. rustica (Wild Tobacco) contains about 10 times the nicotine of N. tabacum, and should be considered one of the most important hallucinogenic entheogens, although both have been used ritually and shamanically by many tribes throughout the Americas.

First Nations peoples use the tobacco plant as a sacred offering and carry it for protection and give aways. As people take from the environment, they give back offerings of corn meal or tobacco. They smoke tobacco in pipe ceremonies.

POSSIBLE USES: Tobacco (absolute) can be used with a stop smoking program. Instead of smoking a cigarette, smelling the Tobacco Oil four times through each nostril will help stop the craving. Tobacco Absolute is a powerful oil and will heal integrity issues. There are trace amounts of nicotine. Has been used in bath therapy but under close supervised conditions. This oil is still under study.

Physical Uses: Used to calm extreme emotional states, dull the senses, and as an aphrodisiac. Use of the oil is experimental so one must use with caution.

Mental Uses: I want to see and hear all that deceives me. I am ready for the truth about myself.

Emotional Uses: Grow from self-deceptive, afraid to see the truth about others and yourself TO comfortably able to come to the truth about reality whether it is "bad or good."

Spiritual Uses Can indicate that you are ready to move forward in your spiritual journey with joy and bliss. It can also mean you have not been productive and moving forward, but only moving in circles getting no where.

Chemical Constituents: Trace nicotine in the absolute, phenols, fuajacol, furfurol, ketones, solanesol.

STRENGTH OF AROMA: Strong

COLOUR: Deep brown

CONSISTENCY: Medium to viscous. This batch is very viscous.

NOTE: Top or Base! Tobacco absolute is often employed as a base note in perfumery, adding its touch in 'dry' or 'masculine' scented perfumes.

BLENDS WELL WITH: Bergamot, Clary sage, and Sandalwood.

CAUTIONS:
~ Tobacco Absolute should not be used on broken or irritated skin.
~ Never use Tabacco ceremonially without proper guidance and support.
~ Toxic use with caution, avoid in pregnancy and with infants and children.

It is important to note that all absolutes are extremely concentrated by nature. They should not be evaluated in this state unless you are accustomed to the undiluted fragrance. For those trying Absolutes for the first time, we strongly recommend they be evaluated in dilution. Otherwise, the complexity of the fragrance - particularly the rare and exotic notes - become lost. Absolutes are NEVER to be ingested.
