Aroma: Sandalwood South Pacific Essential Oil is one of the more exotic essential oils, with a unique aroma that combines a subtle floral scent with undertones of wood and fruit. The rich, sweet, warm and woody, persistent aroma has been described as sensual and romantic. It is used traditionally as an incense in religious ceremonies and for meditation. Sandalwood oil is uplifting and relaxing.
South Pacific Sandalwood Santalum austrocaledonicum is a small tree that can grow 10 metres tall that is found in New Caledonia and the Republic of Vanuatu.
Common uses: Sandalwood essential oil is used in #aromatherapy as #nerve #calming as well as to help relieve #headaches, #colds and #cough. Known for its warm, smooth, tenacious, woody scent, it is used in many fragrances as a bottom or base note.
CHEMOTYPE: ALPHA SANTALOL
COLOUR Pale yellow
IMPORTANT: THIS ESSENTIAL OIL IS NATURALLY THICK (High viscosity)
You shake the bottle, it flows very slowly or nothing comes out of the dropper and you think: Something is wrong with my oil! Don't worry, this is normal (can vary from batch to batch) and is a guarantee of quality. So patience is needed.
HOW TO LIQUEFY A THICK ESSENTIAL OIL
- Warm the bottle in your hand. Sometimes heating the bottle will not help, so please tap the bottom of the bottle as this can help release the oil.
If that doesn't work:
- Place the bottle in a small ziploc bag and empty the air as much as possible (to protect the label and to prevent the bag from floating), then put the bag in a larger container of hot water (not boiling) to warm it gently for about 5 to 10 minutes. And that's it, it comes out of the dropper!
- This procedure will have to be repeated each time before use because the oil will become thick again.
- Avoid using a microwave oven as it may overheat and deteriorate the oil.
- Tips and tricks: You can remove the dropper and use a pipette to extract drops or a toothpick, a needle to extract the desired amount from the bottle.
Suggested use: Topical (adults): Mix 1 to 5 drops in 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) of vegetable oil; apply locally 3 times a day. Inhalation: Add 4 to 12 drops in a bowl of steaming hot water or a diffuser. Inhale slowly and deeply for 5-10 minutes
Reviews:
Best Sandalwood essential oil I have ever smelled, and well worth the price! ... A little goes a long way - 2-3 drops in my diffuser gives me hours of pure olfactory and spiritual enjoyment. Sandalwood has always been my "ahhhhh" fragrance that centres me... I highly recommend this product!!
Love this oil. Good scent, no weird chemically overtones. A little goes a long way. Always cautious about ordering something I haven't tried yet in aromatherapy, but was very pleasantly surprised with this one.
